Crane for USA 15 Cavern in CERN

Summary

The crane has now been installed at USA15 Cavern in CERN, which was built to hold the electronics for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The crane will be used for the installation of new cooling equipment.

The manual gantry crane has a safe working capacity of 3,200kg and is sat on four wheels allowing the crane to be moved on guide rails set into the ground. The crane was designed with bolted connections to allow for easy transportation and construction of the crane when on site.

The crane was designed to the following norms and standards EN 15011 Cranes – Bridge and Gantry Cranes, EN 13001-1, 13001-2 and 13001-3 Cranes – General Design.
