Summary

A new two-storey dwelling in Abersoch
Datrys provided design calculations and drawings for a new two-storey dwelling in Abersoch set within the hillside and overlooking the sea.

Project Details

  • Project: Cregir Wen, Abersoch
  • Client: Private
  • Location: North Wales

The interior of the property is very much an open space which lets in plenty of natural light. The property has a traditional cut roof design with exposed glulam beams and truss rafters. There are numerous hidden steel members and frames within the walls and floor to ensure stability under lateral wind loading whilst maintaining the overall sleek nature of the construction.

The rear elevation faces the sea and has an extensive cantilevered balcony which projects from the first floor. Supported off the balcony are glulam frames with glazing which are an architectural feature and provide cover against inclement weather.

Design involved:

• Retaining walls
• Glulam beam and frame design
• Steelwork design
• Cantilevered balcony assessment for deflection
• Construction drawings and detailing of connections
