Datrys Appointed on Residential Regeneration Project in Rhyl
Datrys has been appointed to work alongside Ainsley Gommon Architects on a strategic regeneration project in Rhyl. The Abbey Street project involves the upgrading and construction of nine apartments and houses with associated parking facilities on behalf of North Wales Housing Association.
Datrys is advising on the key engineering challenges of the site which include the risk of coastal flooding and the poor ground conditions. A Flood Consequence Assessment and geotechnical investigations with boreholes are being carried out.
The structural engineering and drainage design will also be provided by Datrys. The structural scope includes reporting on the structural condition of the present buildings and the design of temporary support and upgrading.
“This project is really interesting as it uses so many of the services we offer clients under one roof”, comments Project Engineer, Adam Caldwell. “This ensures that we quickly get an overview and can propose solutions from different standpoints. Problems are then solved with all views being considered and accounted for.”
The project is programmed to move quickly, with early planning application for the work.
